Trying to see the Northern Lights and a fjord...All things didn't happen as planned.

My attempt at a selfie on the mountain side overlooking Bergen.

Norway - Part 1 of the JourneyI took the plunge and bought the ticket with no real knowledge of country or what else to do outside of seeing a fjord and the Northern Lights. My attempt was simple - get to Norway, book a cruise to see a fjord, and fly to Bergen to if I could potentially green shimmers of light across the nighttime sky.

My attempt to see the Northern Lights was a failed attempt. It was so overcast and rainy that nothing was showing in the sky. Even on takeoff from Bergen to Stockholm, Sweden, I didn't even see anything in the sky.

While disappointed, I had the opportunity to see two fjords - the Oslo and Mostraumen fjords. While the Oslo fjord (where the capital city of Oslo sits at its end) is a low valley fjord, Mostraumen occurs more of the classic idea of the fjord we/I grew up hearing about.

Here are some of the pictures (below) from the Mostraumen fjord. It is the easiest to get to and nicest fjord near Bergen. If you want taller fjords, prepare yourself for 16+ journey from Bergen up the Norwegian coast. I can imagine it would be worth it if fjords are your thing and you have the time. :-)
